From the Wolf's Eye:
16 bald eagle nests were occupied,
with 16 chicks confirmed and 16
successfully fledged, the highest
ever recorded on Isle Royale
♦ 36th year of loon surveys on Isle
Royale; 208 adults documented
(long-term average is 220), 44
chicks fledged (higher than average)
♦ 3 sites were monitored for
potenal peregrine falcon nests,
but only 1 juvenile was confirmed. The nest at Passage Island was not successful for the
first me since 2012.

Thats great news. Eagles and loons are my favorite birds to photograph. Will be on the lookout for eagles on my VIP Photo trip.

Chief, every time I have been up on Mr. Franklin, there have been eagles riding the updrafts on the north face. Good luck, and I hope you find some eagles for great photos!

Chief, you're probably already all over this, but: as of early June there was an active bald eagle nest---two adults--- right along the trail to Scoville point. It's near the junction between the spur to the point and the loop part of the trail, up in a tree about 100 meters down the spur and inland from the trail. If you're heading outbound, the spur starts through some conifers, crosses a rocky bit, then bends left. The nest is right around there, across from a big tree whose trunk has snapped. I think it's easier to see traveling inbound.

There were chicks a couple weeks ago. Going out, stop a stride or two before the big rotted tree stump, then look left (and up).
