Mongoose, what did you end up deciding on?

How is the segment from Lake Ritchie to Chippewa Harbor? The reason I ask is that I'm mulling what may be a harebrained scheme to do a one day speed hike from McCargoe to Chippewa around the solstice. I've been on all of the segments around there previously but haven't checked off that last bit.

My 20+ year old Columbia jacket has finally passed the point of being sufficient repairable to keep me dry, plus I have the funds to upgrade. It was good enough to keep me dry in a drizzle or light rain almost all day. I'm looking to replace it with something that will do the same, or possibly going ...

Anyone take the trail down to Malone Bay last season? How is that beaver dam crossing holding up?

Adding on to both Into and JerryB; I was at Island Mine in September 2023, even after a summer of low rain there was still running water. Definitely low, but there. One of my traveling companions was squeamish so we did filter and also boil, but it was fine.
