trail runners and socks

This may be a stupid question, but here goes: I am considering shifting from my (albeit light-weight) hiking boots, with Gore-Tex, to trail runners. The trail runners are very light and are intentionally porous. So, my question is, what types of socks do folks wear with trail runners? Regular hiking socks? Wool? Something else? Thanks.

I use wool, thick or thin depending on the weather. They get wet, but that's OK with wool. Wet feet are part of the deal with trail runners, but they don't last long.

Darn Tough Microcrew Cushion. Rubbing your feet with a salve (I use Burt's Bees) will help make your feet a little waterproof. The lubrication helps with blisters.

I wear darn dough socks. Your shoes will dry so fast, you'll love it.

I wore darntuff wool socks with ingeni liners with my tail runners in Dolly Sods recently. Feet were wet most of 3 days without a single blister or hot spot.

I just got off the island on Sunday and i am a convert to trail runners. Very light and comfortable and far “grippier” than my boots.
