Re: Guys who caused the Mt. Franklin Fire Charged

I'm glad they caught them. Their negligence impacted my '22 trip. Still had a great time, but not what I'd spent a year planning.

Re: First timer looking for feedback

In '22 I did the end to end, with a few different camp site. As others have said, Windigo to he tower is in the tunnel, but you're on IR, so you won't care. Stayed at Island Mine and had a relaxing first night. S. Desore for a water refill and over nighted at Hatchet. Then off to Todd Harbor, one of...

Re: Pre-Taping Feet?

I've taped, but with leukotape, I'd recommend taping a few days before hitting the trail. The tape seemed to meld to the skin better with warmth and time. I hiked IR last year with sock liners and darn tough wool socks without issue.

Re: GMRS Communcation

When I was there last year, I didn't see anyone with a radio.

Post Hike Showers

I'll be arriving on IR in 12 DAYS! So excited :D . Quick question as I gather, sort and resort my gear. Showers at RH, what's the current price and are towels included for the price? What to make sure I pack accordingly. I've read the 2022 Greenstone, but there's no mention. Thanks!

Re: trail runners and socks

I wore darntuff wool socks with ingeni liners with my tail runners in Dolly Sods recently. Feet were wet most of 3 days without a single blister or hot spot.

So if Windogo store isn't open, where do I get fuel upon arrival?

Bobcat & S_R_L...thank you for your feedback. I'd prefer the solitude aspect and time to enjoy the island.

Zero day options: Todd Harbor or McCargo Cove and Why

I fly into Windigo on AUG 20 and depart Rock Harbor on AUG 27. My itinerary is: W>SLD>TH>MC>LC>RH. I have a zero day built in and am looking for a preferred zero day location: Todd Harbor or McCargo Cove...and why. All feedback from those who have been is greatly appreciated.

Re: Normally hang between the trees, but...

Thanks for the feedback. For this trip I’ll have a Warbonnet Superfly tarp that is plenty for coverage and with doors, can be pulled closed if it rains.

Normally hang between the trees, but...

I'm normally a hammock camper, but after reading the many postings of hammock use in IR, I'll become a ground dweller for this trip (Aug 20-27, 2022). I'm considering a 1-P tent or a Paria Breeze mesh tent & tarp combo (https://www.pariaoutdoorproducts.com/products/backpacking-tent-breeze-mesh-t...

Re: Isle Royale Season Pass (IRSP)

If you go to the form for the IR Season Pass (https://www.pay.gov/public/form/entry/101/97558762/), it states: "If you would like an Isle Royale Season Pass Wallet Card, you may exchange your season pass receipt at any park visitor center." Curious if anyone has the wallet card?
